Frozen Gardens

Description

Frozen Garden

This enchanting tale began with a simple gesture from my husband during quarantine in the COVID-19 pandemic – he began surprising me with flowers, not from a florist, but from retired grandmothers who had gathered them from their own gardens. These were not your typical store-bought flowers; they were wild, untamed, and destined to wilt all too quickly.

In an effort to prolong their life and capture their delicate beauty, the idea of freezing these wilting flowers was born. What began as a practical solution soon blossomed into an unexpected and captivating art form – “Frozen Gardens”.

Inspired by the great artists of our time, I immersed myself in the world of frozen flora, seeking harmony amidst the chaos of ice and petals. Each composition became a labor of love, meticulously crafted to reflect the principles of balance and beauty found in renowned works of art. Drawing from the contemporary color palette championed by artists such as Helen Frankenthaler, I imbued each frozen tableau with a vibrant energy that defied the chill of its icy medium.

The resulting photographs are a testament to the transformative power of creativity and the resilience of nature’s ephemeral beauty. “Frozen Gardens invites viewers on a deeply personal journey where time stands still and even the most ephemeral blooms find eternal life in the embrace of ice. It’s a story of love, art, and the enduring magic found in the simplest of gestures.
